Monk Empty

A monk's secondary profession is best used to help support that monk. The mesmer secondary is a very common choice because of their Inspiration Magic spells that help with energy management. Many other primary professions choose monk as their secondary for the ability to resurrect their party members as many times as needed.

Warrior

- During PvP many monks wield Tactics shields for additional armor. Consider the skill Shield Bash when using this tactic.
- Balanced Stance is useful to protect against various Knockdowns.
- Check out Tony's melee monk build.

Ranger

- A Monk/Ranger is also one of the best running combinations for the Southern Shiverpeaks. Ice Imps and Ice Golems pose no threat when using Spell Breaker, which can be held up most of the time by using Serpent's Quickness. The ranger speed boosts ensure that running past the enemy is swift and harmless.

Elementalist

- Glyph of Lesser Energy offers energy management for the monk.
- Storm Djinn's Haste or Flame Djinn's Haste is used in GvG matches to run flags.
- Though not nearly as useful as Return, Grasping Earth can snare foes and allow easy kiting.

Mesmer

- The Inspiration Magic line provides a variety of energy management skills.
- Channeling is often used in Heroes' Ascent, in combination with spammable 5 energy cost skills.
- Inspired Hex not only removes a hex from a target ally, but it also gives the player energy.
- Ether Signet is an alternative choice that gives you a boost of energy when you are close to 0, however this is hampered by a very long recharge.
- Hex Breaker is useful to protect against Diversion in PvP.

Necromancer

- This profession combination provides little benefit for a Monk primary. Necromancer and Monk skills have very little synergy.

Assassin

- Shadow Arts skills such as Dark Escape for protection from melee damage dealers. Especially useful is Return, which cripples enemies while teleporting you towards an ally.

Ritualist

- This profession combination provides little benefit for a Monk primary. Most protective and healing effects provided by Ritualist skills can be better replicated by native Monk skills.

Paragon

- A Mo/P often will be seen using skills such as "Brace Yourself!" or "Make Haste!" to buff Party members. Though not as commonly seen, Mo/P's usually come in pairs to buff each other.
- Many of the protective and healing effects provided by Paragon skills can be better replicated by native Monk skills.

Dervish

- Skills such as Conviction and Vital Boon help to keep the Monk alive in a PvP.
